In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Information of Edward Gillett, Captain's Clerk, against Captain Thomas Hardy, Commander of the SWALLOW prize. (1) A list of 19 men whose names were on the books, but who were never on board. (2) A list of 6 men who had Run from the ship on 16 May 1693, but were kept open on the books. A list of 3 men entered on board 18 February and Run on 21 February. 2 men Run 23 April 1693. 4 men Run on 22 December. 3 men left ashore in Jersey on 11 June and still on the books on 24 July. (3) 15 men kept above double the complement of seamen. (4) Stating that when men are Run he discharges them and makes the ticket to himself. (5) Charging 4 men for slops for men marked Run.
