In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The WARSPIGHT has been ordered into Portsmouth where she is to be surveyed and her defects reported. Captain [Gother] of the ROYAL KATHERINE is in want of Provisions. An instruction is given for him to be continually supplied with three months foodstuffs so that he may supply other small ships in need at the Nore. Captain Welby of the LIZARD is asking for payment for his time in the JOLLY Prize. An instruction is given for him to be paid to enable him to equip his ship for a forthcoming voyage to the Straits. Captain William Cooper formerly of the ENGLAND Hired frigate has made an offer of a ship currently at Kinsale to serve as a Man-of-War. A survey is to be taken and advice is sought as to her arming and manning if suitable to serve. Oredring that the new Brigantine building at Woolwich is to remain on the ways until further notice.
