Letter dated 5 May 1880 from Telegraph Construction & Maintenance Company Limited congratulating Edward Riddle on completing the laying of the Hong Kong-Manila cable and offering condolences on the death of his son. Letter dated 27 December 1888 from the managing director of the Telegraph Construction & Maintenance Company Limited sending orders to Edward Riddle that on joining the SS SEINE at Singapore he should begin laying a cable from Banjowanjie [Banguwagi], Java to Cossack Bay. Letter includes chart positions, details of depths and arrangements for handover and ending of the contract on completion.
