Papers relating to Transport during the South African Wars and the Boxer Rebellion

Comprises an array of papers maintained by Alexander Rowand when appointed as Lieutenant Royal Indian Marines Transport Officer. Note that the Indian Marine saw service in North China 1901-1901 during the Boxer Rebellion. In 1899, at the outbreak of the South African Wars, the entire contingent of the Indian Marine was despatched to South Africa, and many officers and seamen were employed in transport and allied duties.
