Also letters written in 1955 regarding the unveiling of a Merchant Navy Memorial on Tower Hill, 5 November 1955.

Administrative / biographical background
Educated at Gordon School, Gravesend and at Royal Hospital School, Holbrook. In 1939 he took up merchant navy apprenticeship. Youngest person present at Dunkirk evacuation on board the Sun X. Lost with tanker San Victorio, Eagle Oil Co. 16 May 1942.
