Diary of Stanley Crane, a sick berth attendant, HMS RAMBLER, 1904-1906
The diary was written as a record of the surveying duties of HMS RAMBLER, from her commission in 1904 at Chatham to their spell in the East, principally China. While detached from the RAMBLER surveying, Crane and several of his colleagues were captured and tortured by Chinese pirates.
