Sketch mounted on card, showing the sinking of the German light cruiser MAINZ (1909) during the Battle of Heligoland Bight, 28 August 1914. The sketch was made by Sub Lieutenant George Cliffe Hatch of the destroyer HMS FIREDRAKE (1912), in a letter to his cousin Madeline Whitehead.
