Christmas card sent by the artist John Worsley to Bernard Hailstone and his wife, December 1939. The printed card has illustrations by Worsley showing the armed merchant cruiser HMS LAURENTIC (1927) at sea and crew members braving the wintry conditions, with lines of verse translated from the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. At the time Worsley was serving as a midshipman in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
