Official pardon for William Phillips and others previously convicted of piracy and felony, 1770.
Warrant for the official pardon of William Phillips, Thomas Phillips, elder and younger, Richard Hide, George Phillips and Thomas Knight, dated 13 June 1770.
These individuals had been among the 14 men sentenced to death by the High Court of Admiralty session at the Old Bailey on 30-31 October 1769. Their indictment related to the piracy and felony committed when a Dutch hoy was attacked and plundered off Beachy Head on 15 August 1768.
