Correspondence from key figures. 36 letters from Samuel Rawson Gardiner (1829-1902) to J K Laughton, Dec 1897-Aug 1898. Including two letters from S. Arthur Strong, Librarian to the Duke of Portland, relating to the Portland manuscript. Gardiner was Laughton's closest friend and colleague in the English historical profession, and former professor of modern history at King's College, London. [1 folder, 36 items]
