Admiral Edmond John Warre Slade was born in Alderbury, Shropshire in 1859 Joined the Royal Navy in 1872 Appointed Director of Naval Intelligence in 1907 Promoted to Rear Admiral 1908 Commander in Chief East Indies Station from 1909 - 1912 Appointed by the British Government to secure oil supplies for the Royal Navy Served as Director and subsequently Vice Chairman of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company from May 1914 until his death in 1928.
