Correspondence between Vice-Admiral George F. Hastings and other naval officers 1844-69, relating to his service in HMS HARLEQUIN in the China War and suppressing piracy off Sumatra, 1844-48, in HMS CYCLOPS on West Coast of Africa for suppression of slave trade 1850-51, in HMS CURACOA in Mediterranean and Black Sea during the Russian War 1852-57, and his appointment to Hasler Hospital 1856. The African ones are the most detailed. C.40 loose letters, typed transcripts. 1844-69.
