Private letterbook, 1796-99. Refers to J.T.D.'s temporary command in chief in the West Indies (1796); service on the S.W. coast of Ireland; allegations against him by the mutineers in 1797; findings by arbitration re prize-shares, 1797; exchange of letters with St Vincent off Cadiz, 1798; a copy of St Vincent's correspondence with Sir John Orde, culminating in the latter's suprsession; the Minorcan expedition and the failure to get a K.B., and an association with Nelson.
