Scrapbook of Frederick Beauchamp Paget Seymour, 1872-1894.
Scrapbook containing memoranda, letters, certificates, drawings, charts, photographs, invitations, dinner menus, and newspaper cuttings from Seymour's career in the period 1872-1894. Much of the material relates to his appointment as Commander-in-Chief in the Mediterranean, and his flagship, the central battery ironclad HMS ALEXANDRA (1875).
Two watercolours show the Turkish forts Medjidich and Namazieh in the Dardanelles in September 1880. The photographs include carte-de-visite and cabinet portraits, and topographical views of Catarro and Gravosa on the Dalmatian coast. Others record damage to the forts at Alexandria following the bombardment in July 1882 and the presentation of the Victoria Cross to Gunner Israel Harding.
