Nelson to Lady Hamilton, no date [5?8 July 1803] (Harrison I, 113, extract in Nicolas, V, 117), 3 pages, with extracts from letters to Naples, the force at Toulon, his accounts.

On 5 July Nelson provides details of the progress of the AMPHION from Gibraltar to Malta and then towards Toulon. He discusses correspondence with the King and Queen of Naples, and predicts that Napoleon will soon conquer the kingdom, with Morea and Egypt likewise being in his eye. Continuing the letter on 8 July, he confirms that the AMPHION has rejoined the fleet, discusses the composition of the French force at Toulon and hopes they will come out soon. He conveys news brought from Naples by Gaetano about the situation of various individuals there, including the recently arrived diplomat Elliot. He looks forward to receiving a letter from Emma and hopes Booth has settled the accounts so that she is provided for.
