Nelson to Lady Hamilton, Victory, off Toulon, 26 Aug 1803, (Harrison I, 135; Nicolas, V, 182), telling her not to worry about money and that she will be 'my own Duchess of Bronte' 182, {Note; first page of 3 missing, still in gallery}, 3 pages.
Nelson confirms that by the CANOPUS he has received Emma’s letters, from 20 May to 3 July, with the exception of one. He discusses Sir William Bolton sent to Naples and his prospects for prize money in command of a brig. He also discusses the financial situation of his sister Susanna and assistance for his nephew Tom Bolton at college. Nelson mentions the pamphlet recently published by Captain Sir Home Popham, and his respect for the exiled French general Dumourier. He also mentions his valet Gaetano, and correspondence relating to the career prospects of Suckling, Bulkeley and Elliot.
