The papers consists of notes on Admiralty prize cases, 1720 to 1745, on courts martial, 1742 to 1744, on the case of Nuestra Senora de Cabadonga, 1744, and on the impressment of seamen. There are some letters, 1712 to 1758, which include those from Thomas Pelham-Holles, Duke of Newcastle (1693-1768), written in 1744. There are further papers relating to Lee in the Hartwell Collection in the Buckinghamshire Record Office.

Administrative / biographical background
Lee was a civil lawyer, and admitted as an advocate in Doctor's Commons in 1729. He was Member of Parliament for Brackley, 1733 to 1742, and afterwards represented Devizes, 1742 to 1747, Liskeard, 1747 to 1754, and Launceston, 1754 to 1758. In 1742 he was on the Board of Admiralty but in 1744 followed Lord Carteret (1690-1763) out of office. His connection with the Navy ceased from this time.
