Thompson, Benjamin.

Papers relating to Benjamin Thompson (alias Stevenson): Quartermaster on HM ships VICTORY, OCEAN & HALCYON, 1804-1815. The collection includes letters to his sister Elizabeth, and her husband Adam Pearson. Also includes letters to and from John Devereux, Stevenson's naval prize agent, as well as marriage and baptismal register, memorandum and inventory. A series of 15 letters from 'the lower deck' (see full list in printed catalogue for further details).

Note Stevenson's letter describing the battle of Trafalgar (dated 5 November 1805) has been removed from this series and is now at The Royal Naval Museum, Portsmouth (NMRN/1963/1).
