Journals kept by Curzon-Howe was a midshipman and junior officer on HMS GALATEA in Australia and New Zealand, 1868-1870; and in the Falkland Islands, 1870-1871; on HMS ROYAL ADELAIDE at Devonport, between 10 and 17 August 1871; and on HMS HERCULES at Lisbon and Gibraltar, between 18 August and 2 October 1871; and at Madeira, Teneriffe, Lisbon, Leith, Trondheim and Bergen, between 2 October 1871 and 4 August 1873.
