Howe, Richard, Admiral Of The Fleet, 1st Earl Howe, 1726-1799
Four autograph letters from Admiral John Blankett, dated 6 August, 16 August, 27 October and 6 November 1786, including enclosures. There are descriptions of the island of Madagascar, suggesting it as a suitable place for convicts. One of the enclosures concerns places on the east coast of the Bay of Bengal suitable for a settlement, extracted from a paper given at Madras.
