Volume containing contemporary copies of letters by Lieutenant Joseph Chappell Woollnough, dated between November 1826 and April 1828. During this period Woollnough was in command of the cutter HMS SURLY (1806) in the North Sea, on the coast of Scotland and in the estuary of the River Thames. A typescript subject index has been added to the front of the volume.
