Stewart Collection
The Stewart collection of Nelson documents is arranged in two groups. STW/1-7 consists of papers written by Nelson or received by him, 1782-1804. STW/8-9 has papers relating to the funeral of Lord Nelson and a receipt from Lady Hamilton for her pension, 1805-1810.
Some correspondence relating to the papers purchased by Stewart in 1933 can be found in the Bridport collection at the National Maritime Museum, see the items numbered with the prefix BRP.
Administrative / biographical background
Sir (Percy) Malcolm Stewart, first baronet (1872-1951), was a businessman and philanthropist. He was chairman of the London Brick Company and Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers. Stewart was created a Baronet in 1937.
