The collection mainly relates to Admiral Sir William Houston Stewart (1822-1901). There is also some material relating to his father, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Houston Stewart (1791-1875), and one item relating to his eldest son, Lieutenant Houston Stewart (1853-1884).
