Petition to the Treasury from the inhabitants of Rochester, Strood and Chatham for the payment of debts to local suppliers for the maintenance of French sick and wounded following a recent naval engagement. In the margin of the petition is a note stating that it is to be referred to the Admiralty who are required to report on the true condition of the petitioners and suggest a remedy.
