In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
No date. Petition of Martin Perse explaining that he has served the Crown for many years both in Tangier and Ireland and that when Collector of Revenue in the latter was dismissed from his post by King James for being a Protestant and was imprisoned. He has now returned to England and wishes to claim for a debt, supported by the present Commissioner of Revenue. The debt has been incurred through acting as administrator to John Chudleigh late Purser of the RESERVE and BONAVENTURE as involving provisions and victuals. Not withstanding having been informed that part of the debt has been paid he petitions for the full amount, pleading the hardship he has experienced since his return from Ireland. Signed by Nottingham, Commissioner of Revenue.
