Private diary, 1916.

Written in a "Ladies Year Book 1916", which was published by Charles Letts & Co Diarists. London, the diary contains printed entries separate to Lady Arbuthnot's own writings. The first few pages feature advertisements for a food product "Atora", marking ink for linen and insurance against "Accident Fire and Life" as well as a charity appeal by "The British Home and Hospital for Incurables". A calendar provides dates of "Sundays, Festivals, Astronomical Notes, &c.". There is also advice on "Taking A House", "Hints To consumers of Electricity", "Notes for The Kitchen" and "Hints On Marketing" as well as notes for medical emergencies alongside which various medical treatments are advertised. Conversions are featured as "Weights and Measures" as well as a "Farthing And Pence Table" and a "Multiplication Table". "Aids to Beauty" provides aesthetical advice to women. A guide for "Church Lessons" provides biblical scripture references for every Sunday of the year. Further entries include a guide to stamp duties and the postal system, a list of schools, information about "Household & Commercial Law", "The Sights of London" and a list of "War Charities". There are seating plans of thirty London theatres.

Lady Arbuthnot's entries being on 1 January 1916 and finish on the 3 January 1917. Notable are entries regarding the death of her husband Sir Robert Arbuthnot on board HMS DEFENCE on 31 May 1916.
