In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

A letter from John Pollard has informed us that notwithstanding he acted as a Clerk to Captain Lawrence Wright, Commander of the MARY, in the West Indies, he is paid only as an able seaman.
Direct you to enquire into this and let us know how he came not to be paid as Captain's Clerk on board this ship.
