Document signed by William Jephson, Secretary to the Treasury, 1647-1691.

There are three tallies struck upon the Excise for the sum of £22,000 a week, commencing the first payment in the first week of July next. The Treasury directs that the tallies may be applied to the builders of the fireships, and that you will have the Treasurer of the Navy pay the builders or their assigning interests at the rate of £6 per cent from the time the ships are due by contract until actual payment upon the tallies.
