The Arby boat
"The main aim of this publicaton is to produce a monograph as comprehensive as possible about the Arby boat, using results from investigations and research on this find since it was excavated in 1935. [...] The Arby boat was a neat and practical small vessel. It is one of several finds from central Sweden representing small craft from the Late Iron Age, found near inland waters. [...] The present presentation and treatment of the Arby thus illustrates a part of Iron Age communication patterns which is rather little known, namely those connected with inland water transport and traffic. The original Arby boat, dated to the Viking Period, has for many years been on exhibition at the Museum of National Antiquities in Stockholm. The replica of the Arby boat, planned and built in Great Britain, has also become part of the collection of the same museum."-- Taken from the Editor's Foreword.
