Britain's modern royal navy

This book provides information as to the changes experienced by the Royal Navy to become the modern force it is today. The first chapter highlights the key changes the British Navy experienced during the Cold War, for example, the development of nuclear technology. There is also mention of the increase in surveying and hydrography undertaken by the navy. Further chapters explore the defence role of the navy, including its part in NATO, the types of warships and aircraft owned by the Royal Navy. The book also contains black and white photographs and drawings of vessels, as well as diagrams of the Royal Navy badges. Lists of support ships, radar systems and weapons used by the Royal Marines are also included.
