Wonder (1856)
A whole plate negative. A port broadside view of the paddle tug Wonder (1856) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames, She is a wooden hulled vessel with a clipper stem, figurehead, spike bowsprit, single mast and twin funnels. A pennant has been drawn in on the negative. A small wooden boat with a tall mast and long bowsprit is on the right. On the left is a steam vessel, possibly a yacht, flying a St Andrew's Cross flag at the ensign staff. Tilbury Fort Watergate is in the background.
