Portrait of the 'Kraanvogel'? Amsterdam. Built 1666. 18-guns. Last mentioned 1696

A depiction of a stern only, which is out of the water. It shows on the tafferel, above four small windows a crane retardant, standing on one leg and holding up a stone in the other claw. There are two shields on the counter, with a lion rampant on the port side and crossed anchors on the starboard, for the Admiralty of Amsterdam.

This is an unsigned pencil drawing, by the Younger, in light and rather uncertain pencil. This is suggestive of an earlier period than 1666, but the watermarks and subjects confirm the date.
