A distant view of the seaplane carrier HMS Ben-My-Chree (1908) under way.
A slightly distant and unsharp starboard quarter view of the seaplane carrier HMS Ben-My-Chree (1908) at moorings off Harwich. She is painted in camouflage colours. The photograph was taken from the light cruiser HMS Aurora (1913). Ben-My-Chree arrived at Harwich on 28 April 1915 and did not go to sea again until 3 May 1915. She left Harwich for the last time on 1 June 1915 [online transcription of Ship's log from TNA, ADM 53/35178, 35179 and 35180].
Ben-My-Chree was built as a steam packet for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company until she was requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted to a seaplane carrier.
The negative has a water stain on the non-emulsion side just below the ship.
