Chicago (1885)

A 12x10 negative. A distant starboard bow view, taken from wide off the bow, of the United States Navy protected cruiser Chicago (1885) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is barque rigged and her steam launch is at the boat boom. Two topsail spritsail barges are under sail and a stumpy rigged spritsail barge is at anchor in the background. Two square rigged merchant sailing ships and a steam ship are on the left. Tilbury Hotel is in the right background. The negative is badly scratched across the centre.
