A Miraclous Preservation in a Storm (1). This Drawing Represents the Marquis of Anglsea War Office packet of Bristol J Brown Comdr, ca.1816
First in a three-part series of watercolours, in imitation of prints with handwritten inscriptions, illustrating the recovery of the ‘Marquis of Anglesea’ after capsizing in heavy seas. The present image shows the vessel in port broadside view sailing normally on rough waters with six crewmen sitting on the starboard side.
