The Jetty, Gorleston VII

A drypoint etching of the Gorleston Pier. A building with a wooden tower sits on the left, and a lighthouse is at centre. Fishermen are dotted throughout and sharp-edged clouds punctuate the sky. The red brick lighthouse situated towards the centre of the image was built on the Brush Wharf in 1887. Gorleston-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth is located at the mouth of the river Yare. Gorleston was a major fishing centre for herring until the First World War. Signed by artist.; Exhibition: Print Room Gallery, 1975-76.
