U.S. Naval Steamer Mississippi. Engraved for Stuart's Naval & Mail Steamers US
This print was published in "Stuart's Naval and Mail Steamers of the US". The three-masted, eight-gun, paddle steamer Mississippi is shown in starboard broadside view, under steam rather than sail. She is flying the American flag at her stern gaff. Various other sail and steam vessels can be seen in the far distance, while in the foreground a buoy appears to be roped to a wooden post.
