A slightly distant port broadside view of the monitor HMS Marshal Ney (1915) moored at Dover as guard ship. The photograph was taken from the deck of the light cruiser HMS Aurora (1913).

Aurora was based at Dover twice in July: 8-15 July, before returning to Harwich on 16 July 1916. She then returned to Dover on 21 July steaming back to Harwich on 29 July. [TNA, ADM 53/34495, ship's log].
