HMS 'Ramillies'
Inscribed 'HMS Ramillies' lower left and signed by the artist, lower right (both in capital letters). Although faded, this is a good starboard-broadside depiction of the battleship 'Ramillies' (1916) as she appeared in late 1918. with aircraft flying-off platforms and deflection scales on 'B' and 'X' turrets. Gerald Maurice Burn (1859-1945) was a reasonably successful and widely exhibiting marine painter, who turned to etching in later life. [BTodd/PvdM 5/13]
