A View Across Poole Harbour Towards the Isle of Purbeck, with Old Harry Rocks
Drawing pin holes at the four corners of the paper show that Wyllie painted this sketch with the paper pinned to a board. Although the distant landscape is detailed and easily recognizable, it was probably Wyllie’s intention only to suggest the foreground area. The sketch evokes a sunny day on this part of the Dorset coast.
