Rabbits, one front view sitting up, one side view life size
A watercolour sketch by William Lionel Wyllie. Two studies of a rabbit are shown. On the left is (partial) frontal view of a rabbit. On the right is a side (profile) view of a rabbit. In this study, the rabbit appears to be resting on a solid surface, as suggested by the artist’s inclusion of shadow. The right-hard study is accompanied by the text “Life Size” written underneath the sketch. In both studies, the rabbit’s fur is observed through textured brushwork. A separate sketch of seagulls in flight is included in the top left corner. A tear exists in the top right corner of the work.
