Flock of sheep
A watercolour sketch by William Lionel Wyllie. A flock of sheep is depicted grazing in an open field. The edge of the field is marked with dashes of grey paint, suggesting a low stone wall. In the distance, trees and houses are suggested through loose brushwork. Two light brown watermarks are located beneath the sketch. Handwritten notes (fairly legible) are also visible around the edges of the paper, although it is not confirmed whether these have been made by the artist’s hand.
