Giralda (1897); Satanita (1897)
A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant starboard quarter view of the general cargo spritsail rigged barge Giralda (1897) under sail in the Thames estuary during the Thames Barge Match. She is drifting downwind on the port tack and is to port of the barge Satanita (1897) which is similarly drifting in the light winds. The Giralda (1897) won the Champion topsail class in a time of 5 hours 23 minutes and 20 seconds. The Satanita (1897) was seventh some 18 minutes behind the Giralda (1897). Other barges are in the background.
