Nipcat type spritsail barge

A half plate negative. A slightly distant port broadside view of an unidentified nipcat type stumpy rigged spritsail barge dried out at low tide on the foreshore of Gravesend Reach, River Thames. The foreshore and river are covered in ice. The vessel is one of the few spritsail barges with a pointed stern and the long tiller should be noted. Her short mizzen is mounted on the tiller head. A twin funnelled paddle tug and two coal hulks are moored in the river.
