Shipping off Custom House Pier, Gravesend, Kent
A half plate negative. Looking north east across Gravesend Reach, River Thames,from the Gravesend foreshore just west of Custom House Pier which is on the right of the picture. It is low tide and some of the boats in the foreground are dried out, including one with raised bulwarks. Steam screw tugs and the passenger/cargo liner Oroya (1886) are at anchor or moored in midstream.
