Bawleys dried out ashore at Gravesend, Kent
A view across the river thames towards Tilbury. In the foreground are four bawleys drawn up on the foreshore, held uypright by struts either side of the hull. Their fine shrimping nets are hanging from the main halyard to dry. Three young men are sitting in the bows of one of the bawleys and four sdmall children are standing on the shingle foreshore off its starboard bow. A woman stands with her back to the camera looking at the hull of a nearby bawley.
