Tilbury, Essex
A whole plate negative. A very distant starboard quarter view, taken from wide off the stern, of the passenger/cargo liner Glenfruin (1880) entering Tilbury Docks. She has three yards on her foremast. She is dressed overall with every signal flag she can muster and she has awnings rigged over both well decks and the poop. She is having the honour of being the first cargo ship to enter port at the official opening of Tilbury Docks. The Tilbury hotel is on the right. This negative is slightly blurred. Negatives numbers G1743, G1747, G1748, G1787, G1951 and G2317 were taken on the same occasion. G2317 is the best of these six images.
