Tugs Dunera (1892), Lord Warden (1868( and Prince (1859).
A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant port near broadside view of the screw tug Dunera (1892) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. Astern of her is the paddle tug Lord Warden (1868) with the paddle tug Prince (1859) alongside. All three tugs are owned by the United Steam Tug Co Ltd, known locally as Ring tugs because of the two rings on their funnels. The Dunera (1892) was completed in May 1892 and the two paddle tugs were sold to South Shield owners in February 1895. Two cargo ships are at anchor and there are skiffs in the foreground. Tilbury is in the background. The original glass plate negative has been broken and a 10x8 safety film dupkicate has been made from the repaired negative. A photographic print produced from the original negative prior to its damage is available for scanning.
