Avalanche (1874)

A whole plate negative. A starboard near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the 3 masted ship rigged vessel Avalanche (1874) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has windsails rigged forward and amidships and an awning rigged aft. She is rigged with double topsails, single topgallants, single royals and a main skysail. Men are in her rigging. Tilbury is in the background. The negative has been broken and discarded but a 12x10 photographic print produced from the negative in the 1950s before it was broken has been copied and given the negative number G1641 (which see).
