A distant view of a Coastal Motor Boat [CMB] under way at speed off Parkeston, Harwich.

An unsharp distant port side view of a Coastal Motor Boat [CMB] under way at speed off Parkeston Quay, Harwich. The River Stour is very calm with a few ripples. Three torpedo boat destroyers are moored alongside the Quay. The outer torpedo boat destroyer is Melpomene (1915) with Pendant Number 09 on her starboard bow. The photograph was taken from the light cruiser HMS Aurora (1913).

The Aurora was prepared for trial of motor boats on 8 August. No further mention of the boats is made for August. [Ship's Log, TNA, ADM 53/34495]
